Henry Kulbaski was watch commander in the pre-dawn hours of Feb. 17, 1974 when a stolen army helicopter was being chased into restricted air space near the White House. He couldn't reach his superiors and made the decision himself to down the intruder. The copter "landed in a blaze of gunfire on the south lawn of the White House.

XiTi Monitor has released its latest report (FR) on web browsers utilization in Europe and the rest of the world according to a survey during the first week of July. All European countries saw an increase in Firefox participation with Hungary showing the most dramatic increase from 27.2%, in the latest March 2007 survey, to 39.7%.

An enormous BP oil refinery in Indiana is planning to pour significantly more ammonia and industrial sludge into Lake Michigan, it was reported. The move by the British Petroleum oil refinery of Whiting, Ind., runs counter to years of efforts to clean up the U.S. Great Lakes, The Chicago Tribune reported Saturday.
