During the early 1900's, Dr. William Coley re-discovered a cancer treatment that was surprisingly effective. By infecting tumors with common bacteria, Coley learned the body could be triggered to kill off cancerous tumors. Conventional modern medicine rarely employs Coley’s technique today for 1 reason: they still don't understand how it works.

In the 40 years that humans have been traveling into space, the suits they wear have changed very little. The bulky, gas-pressurized outfits give astronauts a bubble of protection, but their significant mass and the pressure itself severely limit mobility. Dava Newman, a professor of aeronautics and astronautics at MIT, wants to change that.

Even as the Pentagon balked at pleas from officers in field for safer vehicles, USA TODAY found that the military pushed to buy them for a different fighting force: the Iraqi army. As of this spring, 400 MRAPs have been delivered to Iraqi forces. Not until two months ago did the Pentagon champion the MRAP for all U.S. forces.

After installing the Samsung Linux printer drivers of April 2007, many applications, like OpenOffice.org, open themselves with root permissions.The link (sorry it's french) shows that the installation script replaces some applications with a setuid script ! Coming from a recent interview with Phil Harrison, 1up was curious why Sony was letting exclusive downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV slip through their fingers. It seems that, perhaps, the PS3 will get their own content for the upcoming classic sandbox game.
